Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
Three questions with Ramon Martins, owner of New Concept Painting and Home Improvement
What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?
Since I was very young, I wanted to have my own business. While I was working as a painter, I realized that I wanted to offer clients a “new concept” coupled with inspiration. The only way I could do that was by being independent. So I decided to start my own business. It wasn’t easy, but through hard work, the right collaborators by my side, and help from all the community (my company started in Port Chester, then moved to Stamford) I could bring my dream to reality.
Are you offering any new products or ways for customers to purchase your products or services?
My best selling service is my renovation projects.
Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?
I use and support several local businesses including Interstate Lumber Store; Stamford Sherwin-Williams for my paint; Pro Sign for my marketing materials; and Fiesta Peruvian Restaurant which fuels me during the hard work!
